Bio
Julia Scott is an environmental reporter for print and radio based in San Francisco. She writes about water resources, urban pollution, food production and energy issues for a variety of national publications. She also covers regional environmental issues as a staff writer for the San Mateo County Times, a Bay Area News Group paper connected to the Contra Costa Times, the San Jose Mercury News and other papers that have featured her writing.
Her radio reporting has been featured on KALW 91.7 FM, a Bay Area public radio station, and she is a featured contributor to California Watch, where she writes about water issues.
Scott has received several environmental reporting fellowships, including one from the Metcalf Institute for Environmental Reporting, and was selected as Outstanding Emerging Journalist of the Year by the Northern California chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists in 2008.
